Windward Publications Pty Ltd is operated by David and Carolyn Colfelt from their offices at home in Berry, New South Wales. The company engages in desktop publishing, writing, illustration and graphic design. Windward is arguably Australia’s smallest publisher, publishing only books by David and Carolyn, of which there are three at this time – 100 Magic Miles, The Whitsundays Book, and Barrier Reef Traveller. All are about the Great Barrier Reef region.
During the past thirty years David and Carolyn have travelled extensively along the length of the Queensland coast exploring the marine park, observing its wildlife, photographing and writing about the islands. Carolyn is an artist and potter; she studied art and design at East Sydney Technical College and pottery at the Nowra TAFE. David had thirteen years experience in the pharmaceutical industry as a writer and in general management before going into freelance photography, writing and magazine editing.
